laura mclean (Australia)
Laura McLean, born in 1984, is a Sydney based artist and occasionally
also a writer and curator. She completed her undergraduate and postgraduate
studies at Sydney College of the Arts, graduating with a Master of Visual
Arts in 2010. She has also studied at Alberta College of Art and Design,
Canada, and the Universität der Künste, Berlin. Working predominantly
with print media and sculpture or installation, her work explores geopolitics,
global networks of various sorts and zones of autonomy. Approaching sculpture
from an architectural perspective, McLean uses materials and processes
associated with the planning and construction of buildings to examine
how ideological constructs ‘come to ground’ in physical forms.
