hyun jin cho (South Korea)
Hyun Jin Cho is a London-based artist originally from South Korea. She
received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Korean Painting from Ewha
Womans University (Seoul) and a Master of Art degree in Drawing as Process
from Kingston University (London). Since 2005, Hyun Jin Cho has been
making works in the animated video form, which brings together her interest
in drawing and film. Talking Distance, her graduation film has
been screened at several film festivals and galleries internationally.
Her latest video work, My First Movie (Will & Max) is based
on the act of a child’s play and is an attempt to explore the different
potentials inherent in representing an original event. Hyun Jin Cho has
recently begun Compulsive Holding, a collaborative effort investigating
our persistent impulse to read, collect, and record the everyday. For
the last year and half, she has been also working as an archivist for
Curzon Artificial Eye, an art house cinema/distribution company. Drawing
